The WKU competed at the EKF National Championships the weekend 8 and 9 April 2017. The WKU Squad of 13 athletes competed over both days.

Day 1: On the first day we had three team members competing, with Avani Kilsby getting to the final and narrowly missing out on gold, but taking a greatly deserved silver medal.

Sasha Wyatt Sugg was beaten by the eventual gold medalist in quarter finals, fighting her way back through repercharge to earn a bronze medal.

Unfortunately Callum Mounce got beaten in the earlier rounds but I’m sure he’ll be back winning in no time.

Day 2: With 10 of our athletes competing, it was a very hectic day for coaches and fighters. The final outcome was very satisfying.

Rachel Taylor fought her way back in repecharge to earn a bronze medal. Ben welch and Charlie Smith just missed out on medals and although many squad members were beaten in the earlier rounds, their effort and attitude was exceptional.

The WKU Squad will continue to progress on our medal winning journey…
