WKU’s Ivor Thomas attended this event in Lincoln on 12 January. Here’s his report.

The Championship comprised of the three regions fighting each other with the winning team scoring the most points – not bouts.

Each team had 16 members comprising of Senior Male and Female likewise Juniors and Cadets and all athletes fought under full WKF Rules.

The day proved to be very successful with all regional teams putting out their strongest teams which included some of the present English National Squad.

After all three teams had fought one another all the points scored were tallied up. The Southern Region were the winning region. All of the teams were presented with a trophy and the winning team a large cup.

This will hopefully become an annual event and also sow the seed for entering a regional team into Europe.
