Report from 2011:
Yet another great weekend for WKU, English team champions for the third year in a row.

The team were in the final against Higashi but were so on form that it only took the first three fighters to retain the title. WKU have now won the team title three times in a row.

Sarah Clark has again shown the English squad what they are missing, winning her category with convincing displays throughout. Lee Heath was also there in the men’s individual fighting with such determination he came home with a bronze.

Well done to all of the squad and coaches, the camaraderie is building – they are all there for each other. Coaches have expressed how our ladies team is also building up their strength. Sarah Clark ,who has for so long been our only top class competitor in kumite, has now Rachel, Laura, Chontelle and Chelsie to keep her company.

Our officials were also in action on a 12 hour day Sunday –  Ivor Thomas as a European judge and Nigel Langson as an English referee. Nigel was  promoted to “A” class referee on the day – very well deserved after a long wait. Ivor was involved in the ladies finals whilst Nigel officiated in the men’s – both WKU officials were in constant demand.
