Western Karate Union started with seven founder member clubs. Bristol, Burnham and Highbridge, Chipping Sodbury, Colchester, Clevedon and Oldmixon and Uphill and Rheindahlen. Since then we have grown to eighteen clubs with over 800 members, in areas such as Kent, Essex, Peterborough, Jersey. We are we are open to all styles of karate ands recently welcomed a Shotokan group to our ranks of clubs. The founding club instructors range in grade from 4th to 7th Dan's, all with many years of experience in karate. We are a member of The English Karate Federation. Within the clubs membership we have many fighters who have fought for England, thanks to the experience and teaching of our chief instructor Alan Flook 7th Dan. We currently have 1 European and 2 British and an English qualified officials . We carry member to member insurance and all instructors are covered for professional indemnity, all insructors are vetted via the CRB procedure.
